Alh. Ibrahim Biu (Dan Madamin Biu)
A distinguished International broadcaster. He is currently a Doctoral (PhD) Candidate and prior to that he holds a Masters Degree in International Relations from London Metropolitan University, United Kingdom, and a BA in Mass Communication and Journalism from Howard University, Washington DC, United States.
He began his professional career in Radio broadcasting in 1980 as an international radio broadcaster with Voice of Germany (Radio Deutsche Welle) in Koln Germany and moved on to Voice of America (VOA) in Washington DC, USA in 1984 filling regular reports on the United Nations, US presidential conventions and elections as well as producing radio programmes on economic, political and other developmental matters of interest to African listeners.
He joined the Nigeria Federal Public Service as deputy Director (information and Publicity) at the Nigerian National Population Commission in 1989. He moved to INEC in same capacity in 1996 and rose to a substantive Director in 2006 serving in various capacities in the Nigerian electoral body, particularly as administrative secretary in charge of the large state of Kano, and conducted peaceful general elections in 2003.He moved on in the same capacity to Bauchi and Kaduna states before returning to the National Electoral body’s headquarters (INEC) as pioneer National Director of Voter and Civic Education from 2007-2012. He retired honourably with INEC to pursue a Doctoral Degree (PhD).
He is widely traveled in over 60 countries and in all the continents of the world.
